不清楚为何模特儿给自己取了这么一个古怪的名字。或许她想:既然有人的名字是Cat,那Puppy应该没什么不妥。但Cat其实是Catherine的short form。
华人爱洋名。从喜欢夸耀『五千年优秀文化』,并且念念不忘『百年屈辱』的大陆人,到高度热爱母语,并且视英文为洪水猛兽的大马华人,取洋名都已成为一种潮流。但是,华人取洋名标新立异,洋人听了都会啼笑皆非。
香港艺人郑裕玲的洋名是Do Do,不知是否取自已绝种的dodo鸟?另一名艺人李赛凤的洋名是Moon,我倒是知道其典故。李赛凤十多岁时主演电视剧《大地恩情》,剧中角色的名字是阿满,过后她就索性把『满』直译为Moon。

ReplyDeletehahahahaha eh i think they named themselves funnily to make an impression. i have been to new events and some taiwanese got seriously funny name. there is one fella named himself WEATHER. all of us were like.....wtf? impressive indeed.

I used to against Western names when I was a secondary student. However, I changed my mind after spending a year in the US.
