For Here or To Go

In my post, Candlewood Suites, I mentioned that “wages are high in the United States. Anything self-service is cheap.” This basically explains why Americans eat so much fast food. I also ate fast food a couple of times a week when I was in the States.

There are lots of fast food chains in the U.S., some of which have not yet come to Malaysia. One of them is In-N-Out Burger. French fries of In-N-Out Burger were my favorites…

Another fast food restaurant chain is Taco Bell, which specializes in Mexican food such as tacos and burritos…

El Pollo Loco also specializes in Mexican food. It is famous for the ‘flame-grilled Mexican chicken’. I usually went there to eat chicken bowl with rice…

Jack in the Box had a more diversified menu. My favorite was Fish and Chips. Its taco was also great. This fast food chain even had Vietnamese egg roll…

If I wanted to eat ‘healthy food’, I would go to Souplantation, famous for salads and soups. OK, this probably doesn't qualify as fast food…

In Malaysia, when you walk into a fast-food restaurant, the staff would ask you, “Having here or take away?” In the U.S., they would say, “For here or to go?”

  1. Great choices. Nice.

Here, we have our own local fast food and they are really springing up.

I feel A&W is not widespread enough. I love their coney dogs though they used to taste much, much better. IMO their fried chicken is better than the rest too as well as their curly fries. Yum!

A&W wasn't doing very well in America either. I only saw one or two outlets during my 1-year stay in the States.

In Malaysia, A&W isn't very efficient compared to McDonald's.

Mexican food is not bad, and some of them was spicy too.

However, I saw many obese Mexicans in California, so I think Mexican food is fattening.

  10. Thanks for sharing the cultural diversity between US and Malaysia. But I think that having fast food too frequent is not good for the body. I usually only take once or twice in as many months.

Yes, too much fast food is not good. But too much curry is also bad...
